Maybe it has a few oil stains and a couple of cracks and that paint you spilled that one time. Not very appealing, right? The good news is you don’t have to settle for a boring, drab garage floor. Epoxy coating resists damage from impacts, moisture and stains. You can choose from a wide variety of colors and patterns to match your style. It’s easy to clean and you can reduce your chances of slipping on a wet floor by adding a textured element to the coating. Epoxy coating is cost-effective and lasts a long time, but the install is probably best left to professionals. Garage Floor Paint If you want a do-it-yourself option, paint made specifically for garage floors is a good choice. It is relatively inexpensive and doesn’t require any special expertise or tools to apply. Like epoxy, there are a variety of colors to choose from, but unless you’ve got some serious painting skills, you probably aren’t going to be able to achieve the sorts of patterns and designs you can get with a professional epoxy coating. Garage floor paint does have some protective properties over a bare floor, but it won’t be as durable or moisture resistant as an epoxy coating. Garage Floor Tiles There are two types of garage floor tiles you can install. Interlocking vinyl tiles snap together, making them easier to install because you don’t have to worry about getting them misaligned and then having to scrape the tile off the floor. Peel and stick tiles are still pretty easy to install, but because they adhere to the floor, they aren’t as easily removed as interlocking tiles. If you make a mistake or decide you want to change out your flooring, you’ll have to scrape or peel stick on tiles off the surface of your floor. Both types of tiles provide moisture resistance and can be arranged to create custom patterns. Tiles are also good for covering imperfections. Tiles are best suited for garages with controlled climates because extremes of temperate can cause them to fade, crack or peel. Whether you want to do it yourself on the cheap or let a professional handle it for you, these three garage flooring options will help you transform your space into something you can be proud of.
